How We Treat

McKenzie Certified
McKenzie Institute International

McKenzie Method

Our physical therapists see each patient one-on-one, no PT techs or PT assistants.  On the first visit, patients will receive a mechanical “movement based” assessment, known as the McKenzie Method. The McKenzie Method is the gold standard for treating back pain and joint pain in the PT world.  This assessment will help determine the root cause of your pain and which techniques would be most effective in resolving your problem.

Manual Therapy

A hands-on technique that is provided by a licensed physical therapist to treat soft tissues and joints.  PT’s use their hands to mobilize or manipulate joints and muscles.  The benefits of manual therapy include decreased pain, increased range of motion and decreased inflammation.

Self-Management Techniques

Our goal is to empower you with the tools to become and stay pain free. Our physical therapists can usually abolish headaches or back pain in a few sessions. From there, we help you learn how to recognize the warning signs of a returning injury and how to treat it on your own.

REPEX Table

We are the only clinic in North Idaho to offer a REPEX table.  REPEX stands for Repeated End-range Passive Exercise.  The REPEX table was developed by Robin McKenzie and is specifically designed for the management of low back pain.  During the initial evaluation, the physical therapist will identify the patient’s directional preference, a direction that provokes or eliminates pain.  For low back pain, this could mean lumbar exercises of flexion or extension.  The REPEX table takes the patient through repetitive passive range of motion of flexion and/or extension as they lie in a relaxed position.   This process allows the patient to do many repetitions that they might not have been capable of doing on their own.  The REPEX table has proven to speed up the repair process, improve range of motion, and decrease back pain.
